A
Comprehensive Learning Assessment represents the first critical step in identifying the challenges that a student may be encountering in the classroom. It is only upon the completion of this process that solutions may be developed.
The Assessment evaluates the students' ability to learn and identifies any disabilities that are present, in areas such as Language Disorder, Learning Difficulty, Learning Style, Behavioural, Depression, Vision and Hearing.
Assessments may also uncover challenges that are caused by the presence of a medical condition. In these cases, Mariette will recognize the traits that are associated with the condition, provide recommendations for increased learning success, and when appropriate, utilize her strong network to recommend a medical professional that will provide prompt attention to the student.
The Comprehensive Assessment will measure performance in a wide range of areas, encompassing Cognitive Ability (Cognitive Factors, Differential Aptitudes, Oral Language), Achievement (Reading, Mathematics, Written Language, Broad Knowledge, Skills), Learning Style and Learning Strategies.
Upon completion of the assessment, Mariette will develop
Learning Strategies to be implemented in the classroom and home that are designed to maximize the students' ability to learn, while effectively managing the disability.
Each student is unique with distinct needs. With this in mind, learning strategies are developed to suit the needs of each individual student and will be presented to parents upon the completion of the Assessment process. Mariette is also available to meet with school board personnel if required.
